CEO of Persuasive Design Group, a North Carolina/Michigan business devoted to providing consulting, litigation graphics and technology to attorneys and law firms. Former Director of Computing Source, Demonstrative Evidence Group and former Owner of Evidence Express, Detroit, Michigan.  

 

Tess received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Wayne State University (1982), her Legal Assistant Certificate from Oakland University (1989) and her legal assistant certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants (1993). Her graduate school focus was in the area of school psychology (University of Detroit), which assists her in understanding how people learn and communicate.

 

Tess was a litigation paralegal for over fifteen years for the law firm of Sommers, Schwartz and assisted in numerous trials. On the defense side, she worked as a Litigation Support Manager for Butzel Long in Detroit and managed their litigation support ancillary business.  As a demonstrative evidence specialist, Tess has worked as a medical illustrator and graphic artist since 1986 through her business, Legal Designs. 

 

Tess wrote an article “The Creative Side of Law”, published in the Michigan Bar Journal, Michigan Legal Assistant Newsletter and “Facts and Findings”, a Journal for Legal Assistants. Most recently Tess has written an article entitled: “Is Seeing Really Believing? How Lawyers Can Benefit by Hiring a Litigation Graphics Consultant, published in the Chicago Bar Journal Magazine. She is an avid speaker on the topic of demonstrative evidence and technology, with prior speaking engagements for ICLE, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, Oakland Bar Association, and Oakland University (Legal Assistant Program).

 

Tess is a member of the Demonstrative Evidence Specialists Association and in June 2004, cohosted Michigan’s first technology show devoted exclusively to demonstrative evidence specialists. From 2010 to present she is the President of Demonstrative Evidence Specialists Association, a National Organization. Tess is also a member of National Association of Legal Assistants, State Bar of Michigan, Oakland County Bar Association, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, Women in e-Discovery, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, the American Institute of Graphic Artists, and Association of Litigation Support Professionals.
